Our Mission

Our mission is to develop resources and community relationships for the development of quality education in the Fremont Union High School District.

Who We Are

We are parents, neighbors and we are business people. We are also concerned community members. We work closely with the School District to ensure our children grow up engaged successful citizens. When we invest in our children through community support of public education, it is the best guarantee of economic growth and a healthy society.

Founded in 1983,  the Foundation, is an independent, non-profit, public-benefit corporation, serving Cupertino, Fremont, Homestead, Lynbrook and Monta Vista High Schools. As the primary fundraising organization for the school district, we are committed to ensuring the quality of education provided is not compromised by the changing economic state. We are currently governed by a Board of Directors, which includes teachers, business professionals, community members and parents from each of our five schools.

Why We Are Here

A free public school education is guaranteed by the state Constitution to every California child. Rising costs and tightening budgets are making it increasingly difficult for our schools to operate on public funding alone. The Foundation is committed to maintaining and building on our schools' tradition of educational excellence. All accross the state parents are being asked to dig deeper into their pocketbooks to help.

School districts receive most of their public funds from three sources: the federal government, state revenue, and local taxes.  Public school district fundraising foundations were first formed after voter approval in 1978 of Proposition 13, which limited property tax increases and dramatically reduced school finances. The school funding situation is no better today - California now ranks 46th in the nation in terms of annual per pupil expenditures.
